Our partners at Svenska Aerogel are undergoing efforts to develop a new transparent outdoor paint with Quartzene, as the key ingredient for fire protection to wooden buildings. The nanotechnology with Quartzene adds new and improved functions to materials, a relevant technology to the construction industry’s ambitions for climate smart solutions.
Svenska Aerogel has developed Quartzene, the Next Generation aerogel. Quartzene is an additive material for products in thermal insulation, paint & coatings, filtration and printability.
The initial test results show that the highest fire protection class was achieved, therefore the decision to proceed with the development and stage 2, which started on September 1, 2018 and runs until April 2020.
The need for such a paint relies not only on providing safe materials and protect properties, but also on reducing environmental impact and a less material consumption.
Svenska Aerogel AB, Worlée-Chemie, Germany, Rise Research Institutes of Sweden and Linné University are all part of the project to develop a paint for outdoor use on wood that achieves the highest possible fire protection class.
